Girls From Thunder Strip
What a grand gift from the gods to be young, idolized, cheered, lauded, applauded and lusted after by millions of screaming teenagers around the world. Think Justin Bieber today, all the way back to Bobby Darin and Ricky Nelson in the 1960s, or such enduring idols as Elvis, Pat Boone and James Dean from the 1950s onward. Unfortunately, the flip side is just as jolting: what a cruel trick of the gods to be young, idolized, cheered, lauded, applauded and lusted after by millions of screaming teens around the world, since those fans 18 and under have a way of growing up and dumping their heroes as quickly as yesterday's cold oatmeal. It's the curse of teenage mentality: young, passion-driven fans who are willing to walk on hot coals just to glance at a star suddenly mature and move on, changing their preferences to qualities other than dimples in the chin, trim torsos and greased hair.
